The Town of St. George is intervening at the Hearing of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in Saint John on May 10, 2022, to support NB Power’s Application for a multi-year extension of the Operating License of the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station.
The St. George endorsement of NB Power’s Application for the renewal of the Operating License is founded on the strong safety performance of the Point Lepreau station, the proactive outreach program that NB Power has put in place to keep the Town informed on the Point Lepreau operations, and on the significant economic contribution that the employees of the Point Lepreau station make to the businesses in the Town of St. George and the surrounding communities.
