It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and it’s coming to St. George.
In anticipation of the Christmas season, we are inviting local businesses and groups to decorate a light pole on Main Street. This year we have some new requirements and details, so please read the full information below.
Also, we are hoping you can have your poles completed by Friday, December 3rd. The next day will be our Tree Lighting ceremony at the Post Office, and if we can have Main Street completed in time, it will all look great.
Click here for more details about the Tree Lighting ceremony.
No lighted poles
Please do not use lighted poles this year. Every other pole will be decorated with holiday lights, and we will need these to remain clear this year. Any decorations on a holiday-lighted pole will be taken down. Don’t worry, there are plenty of other poles to go around (see the table below).
A “cracking” theme
This year we are asking decorators to create Nutcrackers on the pole. Imagine if Main Street were decorated with lights and Nutcrackers!
You may remember the ANR Nutcracker from last year’s decorations. We are asking you to create the same idea, but in your unique style and colors.
To help inspire and give you an idea of how this works, please check out these links with examples.
- Nutcrackers from food cartons and cardboard
- Nutcracker soldier cardboard tube set (This is a kit from the UK. We are not making a referral, just offering a place to look for how to.)
It may be best to avoid any legs as you want to wrap around the pole, or to keep them from “running off.” Add your personality or your group’s colors, etc. Keep it fun and as a nutcracker.
Available Poles
If you would like to decorate a pole, please check the list of locations below. The “Decorated By” column will be updated during business hours as information changes. Please do not decorate a pole prior to confirming your pole number with the Town office (755-4320, ext. 100; or email).
