As a result of an extreme wildfire hazard due to “dry and dangerous conditions”, the Province of New Brunswick has closed all Crown land and prohibited “all industrial and recreational activities” on Crown land, effective at 12:01 am on Sunday, August 10.
Eastern Charlotte is taking the following measures in kind:
- Trail Closures: All municipal-owned trails, including the Coastal Link Trail in St. George are closed. Respect posted signage, and do not move or remove barricades installed by Public Works.
- A fire ban is in effect, including at Canal Beach. This ban does not apply to barbecues or natural gas/propane fire pits, as they do not create sparks or embers.
UPDATE: Gas and propane fire pits are included as of 18:00 hours on August 11. - Canal Beach itself remains open.
