EASTERN CHARLOTTE, N.B.—The Municipality of Eastern Charlotte is pleased to announce that Council has awarded the construction contract for the new multi-use childcare facility to Avant Garde Construction in the amount of $2,386,430.
The contract was approved unanimously during Council’s meeting on August 4, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to quality childcare and enhancing community services throughout Eastern Charlotte. Construction is expected to begin this fall, with the facility anticipated to open in late spring 2027.
The new multi-use childcare facility will provide a modern, purpose-built space designed to meet the growing needs of local families while supporting the continued growth and development of the community. The project represents a significant investment in Eastern Charlotte’s future by expanding childcare capacity, supporting workforce participation, and creating a welcoming environment where children and families can thrive.
The facility will be operated by the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick, bringing its extensive experience in delivering high-quality early learning and childcare programs to families in Eastern Charlotte. In partnership with the Municipality, the YMCA will also support fundraising efforts to help enhance the facility and ensure it provides the best possible environment for children and families for years to come.

Mayor John Craig welcomed Council’s unanimous decision, describing the project as a transformational investment for the Municipality.
“This is tremendous news not only for our young families, but for the entire community of Eastern Charlotte,” said Mayor Craig. “Through strong partnerships and government investment, we are delivering a modern, nearly $3 million childcare facility while requiring only a fraction of that cost from Eastern Charlotte taxpayers. This project will strengthen our community, support working families, and help meet the growing demand for quality childcare for years to come.“
