Municipality of Eastern Charlotte N.B — The Eastern Charlotte Age Friendly Community committee is pleased to announce it has received a $4,350 grant through the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, a federal grants and contributions program that supports projects that improve the lives of seniors and strengthen communities. The funding will support a series of Senior’s Cafes — Safe & Connected events to be hosted in various locations throughout the municipality this fall.
Scheduled between September and November, the Seniors Cafes will provide welcoming, community-based gatherings focused on raising awareness about elder abuse, frauds, and scams. The events are designed to create safe spaces for dialogue, encourage learning and connection, and help reduce the stigma and isolation that can be associated with elder abuse.
The committee will deliver the series in collaboration with local health, financial, and police services, bringing together trusted community partners to share practical information, resources, and support. By hosting the cafes in multiple communities across the municipality, the initiative aims to make these conversations more accessible and help seniors feel informed, supported and connected.
The investment reflects a shared commitment to promoting the safety, dignity, and inclusion of older adults in Eastern Charlotte. The eastern Charlotte Age Friendly Community committee looks forward to welcoming seniors to the Seniors Cafes — Safe & Connected series and working with partners to foster stronger, safer and more connected communities.
