Canal Beach is CLOSED until the 2025 season.
Located at 190 Maxwell Road in Canal, Canal Beach is popular for locals and visitors to our area. You may not find much mention of Canal Beach in tourism brochures as it is one of the area’s best keep secrets.
The Beach offers a playground, changing rooms and a wash closet (porta-potty/outhouse). The sand has a pinkish color to it owing to the area being rich in red/pink granite. The waters of the Lake Utopia offer a refreshing place to cool off while not being too cold.
The nearby public boat ramp offers a spot for boaters to put their boats into Lake Utopia.
NOTE: The Canteen is not open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Blue-Green Algae
Canal Beach remains open for swimming. Though Lake Utopia is at risk of blue-green algae, Public Health has not advised us of any blooms at this time.
For more information about blue-green algae at Canal Beach/Lake Utopia visit gnb.ca/algae.
