In mid-November the war memorial that was located in the plaza in front of the St. George post office was removed due to safety concerns with the structural integrity of the monument.
The monument, which presented the name of soldiers from the St. George area that gave the ultimate sacrifice, was originally erected in 1992 as part a Main Street rejuvenation project.
Over this winter, Council will determine where the monument will be relocated in St. George. There are currently three locations under review and one of the locations being the return of the monument to its original spot. The monument will also be thoroughly cleaned.
